Typically outdoor and semi-outdoor application will need very high luminance LCD, mininum more than 1000 nits to 3000 nits. Most commercial LCD has luminance at 400 nits, usually for indoor usage. To increase the luminance (or brightness) is where we specialize in. Care are being taken in material selection and thermal design for a reliable and uniform brightness over time plus efficient heat dissipation on the LED backlight.
Next, thermal management of an outdoor and semi-outdoor digital signage unit utilizing a transmissive LCD panel is something that must be handled carefully. This is such that the heat in the unit does not exceed the working temperature of the liquid crystal in the LCD.
Special material and secondary processes are also necessary for outdoor and semi-outdoor application to mitigate the UV ray of the sunlight that is detrimental to commercial LCD panel. Last but not least, it will need an enclosure that house the LCD and its electronics against moisture.

We can enhance LCD brightness by increasing the luminance of the backlight component of the LCD screen. A majority of standard off-the-shelf LCD screens in the market are of normal brightness due to the mass demand of the market that do not require super bright LCD that will increase the cost of the display. However, normal brightness LCD screens will not be readable under strong sunlight condition.
A lot of times customers found a suitable LCD to use except for its low luminance specification. This is our bread and butter in making a normal brightness LCD panel to attain high brightness. To this end, customer will provide us with the LCD specification and from there, we will do a preliminary study to ensure feasibility. On some projects, we advise customer that a physical sample may need to be procured and inspected to ensure meeting the high brightness requirement. We will consider many steps to enhance LCD brightness, including thermal management, to attain high luminance intensity and reliability
